Tracing the Roots: Hudson's Journey in Aquatic Rehabilitation Equipment
A Legacy Born in the 1920s
Our roots trace back to the 1920s, with the Ille Electric Corporation. This company pioneered the manufacturing of stainless-steel swimming pools, primarily to aid those afflicted with Polio.
Expanding Horizons
Over the years, Ille Electric Corporation diversified, adding stainless steel whirlpool tanks, Hubbard tanks, and burn tanks for therapy. The company’s journey through various ownerships, including Beatrice Foods and Market Forge, culminated in its acquisition by Ferno Washington in 1983. Under Ferno, the division flourished and expanded through strategic acquisitions, partnerships, and groundbreaking product designs.
Innovation in Aquatic Therapy
The late 1990s marked a significant milestone with the debut of the first AquaPaws underwater treadmill system for canines in 1997. The AquaPacer equine underwater treadmill was introduced in the early 2000s which expanded our reach into the equine market. In 2005, Ferno Washington’s acquisition of EESI Engineering in Angola, Indiana, became the birthplace of our renowned AquaPaws, AquaPools, and AquaGaiter products.
A New Chapter as Hudson Aquatic Systems
The Ellis Company acquired Ferno Washington’s aquatic division in 2010, rebranding it as Hudson Aquatic Systems LLC. Operating from a state-of-the-art 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Angola, Indiana, we now proudly manufacture an extensive range of aquatic therapy equipment, catering to both humans and animals.
